The city of Toledo is located about an hour from Madrid by train.  It was once the capital of the Spanish Empire and it had a reputation for having the best sword makers in the world.  The city has a history going back at least to the Roman times.  I had been to the old city in 2002 and I remembered the cathedral as being the most magnificent building that I had ever seen.  Amanda and I decided to take a day trip there, to see if it was still as amazing as I had remembered it.

It was.  Even after seeing a seemingly endless number of cathedrals and other religious buildings around Europe, there is something special about this one.  It is just so incredibly grand.  At times it’s hard to even believe that the structure is the work of humans.  We spent several hours walking around the building in awe.
